Richard Armstrong leads the Smart City Digital Twin initiative at the City of London Corporation, where he is building the sovereign spatial computing infrastructure that connects geospatial data with city-scale operations and urban decision-making.
With over 35 years of experience spanning digital enterprise architecture, spatial computing and immersive technology, Richard has built a career at the leading edge of identifying which emerging technologies will define the next generation of urban systems, and designing the institutional technology frameworks to deploy them at scale. At the City of London, that means translating the convergence of spatial data, AI, and real-time geospatial intelligence into an operational architecture for one of the world’s most strategically significant urban environments, across climate resilience, energy and net-zero monitoring, and critical infrastructure security.
